About
The Mahabodhi Temple marks the spot where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment under the sacred Bodhi Tree, approximately 2,500 years ago. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002, the 55-metre spire is one of the earliest Buddhist temples built entirely in brick and one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the world. Pilgrims from over 100 countries visit year-round to meditate, chant, and circumambulate the main shrine.
